Isle of Skye
The most famous mountaineering expedition in Britain is the Skye Ridge. With over 3000m of ascent spread along 10km of spectacular mountain scenery, this fabulous trip is high on the tick list of climbers and adventurous walkers alike.
![[Along the ridge from Sgurr nan Eag on the Skye Ridge, 4 kb]](/images/t/121.jpg) Any attempt on the ridge needs to be well-planned. In conjunction with Andy Hyslop from Rock and Run, we have produced a MiniGUIDE to the Skye Ridge which contains the best information available for the Ridge. It has been compiled by Andy after years of successful trips to Skye, including his 1994 record-breaking traverse of the main ridge in just over 3 and 1/2 hours! If this isn't impressive enough, a new record was set Friday 4 May 2007 of 3 hours and 17 minutes! Check out the split times here.
The MiniGUIDE also contains masses of useful preparation information some of which has been summarised on our area info page, with all the relevant web references.
