When to Go
 The Costa Daurada is not as reliable a winter sun venue as its Blanca counterpart to the south but it can still be regarded as an all year round venue. From November to February/March, you may well get cold nights, which can be a drawback if camping, but the day times are often warm and dry. As an indication, most of the colour photos in the guidebook featuring Mark and Emma were taken in February. Probably the best time to go is Easter or Autumn. The Summer will be unbearably hot and there are not enough shady crags to make a trip worthwhile.
Flights
![[Espero (6b+) Sector Can Simiro, Arboli, Costa Daurada., 5 kb]](/images/t/462.jpg) Summer Season - Reus has a seasonal airport (open from 1st May to 31st October) which is extremely close to the climbing areas. The flights to Reus are all charters which can vary dramatically in price depending on the school holidays. Information on charter flights is available from travel agents, newspapers and the web sites below.
Year Round - Barcelona is the next nearest airport which is open all year round. EasyJet fly there from Stansted, Liverpool, Amsterdam, Bristol and East Midlands. BMIBaby fly to Barcelona from East Midlands, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Virgin fly to Barcelona from Brussels and have good prices connecting through Brussels from a number of destinations including London, Stockholm and Gothenburg.
Getting Around

Although the Costa Daurada is a good area to go if you are on a limited budget and don't want to hire a car, having your own transport is definitely preferable. Car hire is best arranged from the UK and the cost for the standard little car ranges from £80-£150 per week. There are hire car companies at the airports but their prices high.
Without a Car -
There are a number of crags with camping, or refuges, located close by, which should give enough climbing for a week. Check the accommodation information for a list of likely bases.
Trains service the area with stations at Reus, La Riba and Montblanc. A bus service operates locally with stops at Barcelona, Tarragona, Salou, Cambrils, Cornudella and Prades. There is a bus out of Cornudella in early morning which returns from Barcelona mid afternoon.

Shops

There are supermarkets at Vals and Montblanc and it is a good idea to stock up at one of these before heading into the mountains. There is a huge Carrefour hyper-market in Reus (near the C14 'Montblanc' turning, off the ring road) and another big supermarket in Tarragona.
Most fo the shops in the small villages will be closed in the middle of the day.

There are two dedictaed climbing shops in the region and one other shop of interest:

Uka Uka - 4 Alcalder Costa (off Avda de Catalunya), Lleida. (Near Tourist Information).
No Limits - This large sports store is situated at Selva del Camp on the C14 between Alcover and Reus. This stocks a limited selection of climbing gear
