Western Grit

The telephone number printed on page 214 of Western Grit for Upperwood Farm is incorrect. The number should be 01457 872094.

The following arrangements have been agreed between the BMC and the landowner. Please follow these arrangements to ensure continued access.

Cars may be parked in a lay-by at O.S. ref. 034061 on the A635 'Isle of Skye', Greenfield to Holmfirth Road.
From Greenfield the lay-by can be located as the road turns sharp left and ceases to rise. The lay-by is on the right after the bend and it has a gate in the fence behind it.
From Holmfirth the lay-by is some 500m from the old access point, on the left immediately before a sharp right hand bend.
Access is via the gate, please be sure it is secured after you.
Once through the gate, follow the obvious curving edge of the moor passing a number of rocky outcrops, until waterfalls in Birchen Clough (to the left of Ravenstones) come into view. Descend steeply to the right hand end of the crag. Easy access can also be found at the left hand end.
Please do not use the previous approach route.

Access via the reservoirs and Holme Clough remains as before.
