The Deep Water Soloing mecca that is Mallorca is an ever expanding place, and this update to the 2011 Rockfax guidebook covers more deep water soloing across the Island.
Described in this update are 64 new lines, 6 attainable open projects, 5 existing lines with enhanced information and 11 reintroduced lines from the west coast. All of which can be found at 12 DWS venues across the island, of which three are entirely new and are appearing here for the first time.
Updated Crags: The Tower of Falcons, Cala Barques, Porto Colom – Lighthouse, Cala Marcal, Cala Sa Nau, Cala Mitjana, Cala Serena, Sa Calobra
New crags: Cova Des Burador, Cala Brafia, Cala Estreta and Port De Soller
IMPORTANT NOTE - This MiniGuide is an update for the deep water soloing found in the Rockfax print publication Mallorca. Many of the approach descriptions refer to pages in the printed guidebook and the MiniGuide needs to be used in conjunction with the printed guidebook.
This update is only available in mobile format. This is a format specially designed for mobile phones and tablets and avoids the need to print out the PDF. It has some limited extra navigation functionality and makes best use of the small screen on mobile phones. The PDF is still downloaded in the normal way either straight onto your mobile device, or to your computer, and then you can send it to your device. It can also still be printed using any normal printer although this version is not available in booklet format.
Mobile PDF Reader
It seems that not all mobile PDF readers are created equal. Some have clunky page layout systems, some ignore hyperlinks, and many won't consistently fit the page to the screen, which makes using them a pain. There are many free viewers out there, but we have yet to find one that works completely. If you are willing to spend a few pounds on a reader these are the ones we use at Rockfax:
Adobe Reader for iOS
Adobe Reader for Android
We recommend switching it to single page view in the PDF apps.
