hard but rubbish eliminate
I didn't know that Gary Gobshite went down Pex Hill. How can a classic Pex route that goes direct from bottom to top on a blank bit of rock be a 'rubbish eliminate'?
This guide has missed out a nice problem from previous guides - Robbery 5b - which climbs the wall just to the right of the arete without using it.
the reason it was called robbery was that just below the top (final move) there is a two finger horizontal slot (classic pex unclimbed feature)in this slot were a couple of pebbles, so you could only and so get your finger tips in, these were stolen by the person who made the second ascent, one phil davidson, hence the name!
This wall gets some sun even in winter, though seepage can be a problem. "Robbery" is great but tough for 5b, even by Pex Hill standards. |
