The Astree extension is much longer than 8m. However it can just be done in one long pitch from the ground on a 70m rope in combination of either of the lower slab routes. Atmosheric and very worthwhile.
Quite stiff through the steepest part of the first pitch. The extension has juggy vertical climbing and is never 6b. Can be climbed on a 60m if you pull the rope and lower off from the belay at the end of the first pitch. However, rope drag is horrendous so not really recommended.
In the local guide book, Ziegen Peter is 18m, and the 6b Astree extension is another 17m. |
