18m. The elegant, bulging and bold rib is reachy (and the landing is poor) until the flakes are reached (Friend 1). Continue up the easier upper arete. An astounding ascent for the day although there was a grassy base then and a shoulder to stand on was allowed as a point of aid. USER COMMENTS
Quite a reach for the first move. Really enjoyable. Quite a prize for 1949!
Impossible 2 start for under 5'4" (well according to the other half anyway) gears good though spaced. 1949! Lads were made of stern stuff then
A big route, not to be undertaken lightly nor readily forgotten. The start is committing, subtle, and quite dangerous, whilst the arete above is still pretty dramatic. Harder adjectivally than, say, Jetrunner or The Strangler, and arguably better too. |
