12m. The lower wall leads steeply to the wide and oddly-named crack. Get stuck into it! USER COMMENTS
Very little pro, but then, it's almost impossible to actually fall out of the crack once you've got wedged in it!
Don't wear shorts! I did and left a lot of skin behind!
Route description in rockfax is actually slightly out. Route bends fairly significantly to the left not slightly to the right before the wide crack. Quite difficult and definately worth severe. Good practice for less than body width arm baring and thrutching.
Best laugh I've had in years, and I didn't follow me mate up it; he gave up after half an hour's squirming. Highly recommended...
Superb route - brilliant fun. I'm not going to vote on the grade as I've no idea what it should be. There's almost no useful gear, but there's no way you can fall out of the top crack if you wedge yourself in properly. Giving it a technical grade seems a bit of a joke - not sure that you get technical thrutching!
I've never been so exhausted at the top of a Severe, or probably any other route actually.
Keep on the outside of the crack and keep your dignity!
Good rock 6 at the right hand base of the off width, followed by nice bridging up either side of it.
Not a good idea to have soloed this in walking boots, which is almost unique for a severe in my experience, not sure of the grade but the one it gets is wrong. Harder than 3PS.
The book was very deceptive about this climb. |
