14m. The archetypal grit arete and one of Gritstone's greatest hard routes. The climbing is technical and ultra committing with good runners at one-third height and the crux at the top. Don't fall off the last move unless you have briefed your second man that they need to hurl themselves from the ledge to stop the fall - and even then it is still touch and go! USER COMMENTS
soloed it i dont think it deserves e8
But did you onsight it?
25 votes eh? popular route this one.
EOTA has easily had 25 ascents. I know of at least a dozen without being part of the Sheffield "mafia"
36 now eh Ally? And all rockfax users?
No, only 12 comments on the grade from rockfaxers - hold your mouse over the bar. Ally's right though, it's had a lot more than that.
I really want to do this climb, what is the climbing like?
I love the way this is described as a Descent Route in the new guide!

Grade varies according to temperature. On a cold day it feels easy and on a hot day the moves feel very on-off. Lowish E8.
Grade varies according to style of ascent too ;) |
