12m. The awkward crack that splits the flat wall leads into a short V-groove. USER COMMENTS
More like 6m than 12m. Not well protected.
Did this as a warm down after a few VSs, under the mistaken assumption that Gritfax had got rid of the remaining Birchen sandbags! Had to back off and top rope it in the end, tricky and poorly protected at the top. I had to vote HVD as there's nothing harder available, but I wouldn't argue with HS 4b. And yes, it should be 6m not 12.
Soloed this after I had done a couple of VS's. Kind of worrying, but pretty simple. Just some long reaches to slopey holds. But they're plenty good enough for general consumption!
to me it was harder than Visitors Only just to the left, got half way up and started to doubt the grading in gritfax!
Did this after visitors only (HS 4b) just next door and i honestly thought the guide had got the grades the wrong way round, have you?
Not bad easy climbing very well protected (we got 30 bits of gear in during a competition) only on slightly iffy move at VDiff but if you've been doin VS should have cruised it. Different style to most other easier birchen routes
It's like any other VD crack really, stick a leg in and squirm up it!
Found it harder than Emma's Dilemma, which gets Severe 4a.
Very simple but answers on a postcard telling me where the protection was (without using cams)! Easier to solo. 6m not 12m. Bombproof anchors at top. The crack kindly funnels the wind directly into your face for the last 2 metres! |
