14m. The chimney on the right side of the hanging rib is an altogether easier affair than its neighbour though it is still a struggle to get established in. HS for chimney gurus! USER COMMENTS
Really very difficult to enter the chimney as the crack widens, very tradtional climbing. Failed attempt, the grudge match continues, however 4a seems a bit on the low side.
Agreed, a real thrutch to get established in the chimney itself - especially with a full rack! You can't see you feet for the crucial hole so a spotter is good. Worth the effort though, as it's not something you'll do very often.
Maybe I was having a bad day... I think it's a sandbag, it's certainly pretty sandy! Possibly easier for the small? Moan moan, whinge whinge...
so far no one seems to be enjoying this route at the grade. Rivelen is pretty tough on the grading for chimneys, but is that an excuse to leave this at the grade ? I think it could be VS 4b atleast.
A typically tricky grit exercise. Great fun!
Dirty & smelly thrutch into the chimney, becomes a breeze as a guano encrusted ledge is reached. A spotter for that vital r, foot toe hold is definately a must, as is abrolly to keep the sleet off!
Make sure u dont wear a big helmet it can get stuck! as what happened to me! fun tho.... |
