The right-hand arete of the great flake is a popular line with some excellent positions on the arete. Start up some awkward ledges. USER COMMENTS
One of the best routes at this grade I've done. Excellent! Long, exposed and the great flake.....Its got everything.
Is this really only 15m? From memory, I'm sure I almost reached the limit of my 50m rope on this climb.
Good rock, great position one of the best at this grade on the island, worth searching out.
Seriously? This is one of the scariest sport routes I've led. I'll be surprised if the bottom half of the route is still standing up next time I go. The potential to pull off something big seems very real. Admittedly once you hit the arete, it turns into 3 or 4 moves of nice climbing.
very very loose. Also, it's never 15 metres - more like 25 metres in length..
very loose - lost one foot hold and one hand hold on the way up this...rubbish. Warm up on Sper the Fern instead.
Longer than 16 meters but a 50m rope will do it. Nice route once you're past the garden above the second bolt.
it is a bit scrappy at the start and the rock needs care but wow! what a great second half: beautiful exposed climbing with some absorbing rock features.
Nice line and interesting for the grade. 25m though, not 15m.
I agree with the previous comments, 20m not 15, some gardening required past the second bolt and the odd loose hold however the second half is stunning esp if you stay close to the arete!, Would get 3 stars if not for the bottom section!
very nice route for my first outing on portland defiantly not 15m and dont really think its generously bolted but enjoyed it more than the routes on the beach.
The route has probaby cleaned up more, there doesn't seem to be much loose stuff on it now. A good route worthy of a star,
I didn't find any loose stuff so it has probably cleaned up. It was pleasantly exposed at the top and definitely seemed longer than 15m. |
