The direct start to Seven Pounds is now more popular than the original. Climb direct to the groove on Spizz Energy then finish up Seven Pounds. A wire is useful on the top traverse. Alternatively you can finish up Spizz Energy. USER COMMENTS
7b+ but high in the grade
Better to finish up Spizz Energy.
The first ascent finish leftwards is the crux, good and makes the route 7c.
Superb technical moves on the lower wall. Finishing rightwards up Spizz Energy is a great link and makes the grade very bottom end 7c.
Don't get confused by the comments here and claim to have done Lightweight if you do the Spizz Energy finish. The leftwards traverse at the top is as hard as anything lower down.
Having done Seven Pounds, Lightweight and Spizz Energy, I still think the best line for Lightweight is finishing up Spizz Energy, reghardless of any need to 'claim' routes. Routes aren't part of a collection, they are experiences.
I'd agree that the Spizz Energy finish is the nicest version of the line. 7b+ seemed a realistic grade for this version.
The traverse at the top is the hard part and very good, hard to know what sequence to use on the onsight. The Spizz energy finish looks good and an obvious way to go maybe this should be called 'light energy' ? |
