A great route which is a top-end 7b+ and shorties may find it 7c. The initial wall is technical and the break gives only a poor rest. Steeper ground above leads to a final thin wall. A hard left-hand finish is Recycled, 7c. USER COMMENTS
best route on the crag, definately 7c very sharp on the lower wall.
High in the grade - a difficult one to on sight
An excellent route with a frustrating red-point crux at the top. Definative 7c.
Hard for the grade but not quite 7c. If you're a crimp monster the bottom wall is not that hard.
Definately 7c, best route at this end of the Dale?
This route defines the upper limit of 7b+ in the Peak, rather like Obsession does in Yorkshire. Feels a grade harder in less than perfect conditions.
7b+ for sure and 2 stars.
What's the story behind the route name?
Great route. 7C for me without a doubt. I can see why taller climbers would think 7B+.
After a quick toprope on this today i want to retract my comment about it being 7C for me. The hard reachy moves at the bottom felt straightforward so i now think solid 7B+
When I was working this, an undercut on the top crux came loose but didn't break off completely. It withstood a redpoint but probably won't take many more! It was crucial for my sequence but I may not have found the best way (I used it for my RH to make a long reach left to a good pockety sidepull). Is it best to reinforce it or just leave it as it is?
Unequivocally the best route at that grade in the Dale. A route with technical wall climbing, some power and a heart flutter on a slab; plus a brilliant position above the dale.
Excellent! I don't think it is quite hard enough to warrant an upgrade to 7C. Nic, yes you are the only person to clip the tree at the top. Shame on you. |
