22m. A mini-expedition, interesting and devious with considerable splash-down potential. From the beach, traverse out left to the base of cracks and climb these to the roofs then traverse left again (a rounded hand-traverse or wobbly crawl) to reach the base of a chimney. Head up this then finish up the exposed cracks just to the right. USER COMMENTS
About as "Gogarth" as it gets on Yorkshire grit ;). A fine expedition with good dunking potential and a thought-provoking finish.
A fantastic trip! This has to be the most interesting and exciting severe I have ever climbed!
There's been an occupied nest in the initial crack both times I've done this, possibly worth avoiding during nesting season. Though I think they're jackdaws so not unduly bothered, but quite unnerving for the climber!
And the tree 'bridge' for the descent is no longer there. It's probably possible to cross using the chockstone if you're brave enough, but we abbed off the tree. |
