A little gem that is low in the grade and has a cunning finish. The moves flow nicely and the rock is excellent. USER COMMENTS
Good warm-up route, steady and easy climbing all the way to the rather undignified mantelshelf at the top! Very soft touch for 6a
A GOOD WARM UP. A FRIENDLY CLIMB AT ABOUT 5+ (I THINK). THE MANTELSHELF CAN BE EASIER WITH A LITTLE CUNNING.
What a gem. Surely worth 3 stars. Easy flowing climbing up extraordinary rock.
Definitely worth 3 stars if it wasnt for the appalling name, shame on you Mike. Just about 6a I thought with the crux a tiny bit run out. The finish is easier if you move up onto the ledge at its left, no need to mantleshelf it then Jason!.
The finish made me laugh so much. May haul up a picnic table and a BBQ next time (only joking!)
No Lizzy, Do It!
Classic route, climbed it with a sprained ankle, (found out later). Felt in the 5+ range, just real positive. Great ledge at top to stand and contemplate life, does anyone else know of another ledge like it?
Class route. Lovely little flowstone sheet (steep) in the middle and an entertaining finish. Cool name.
What a lovely route! I'd give it three stars, but then that would attract traffic so two is fine ;-) I onsighted it clean so it's definately no harder than easy 6a. The finish throws you if you're not expecting it.
Great route, nice rock, to me the crux was making one of the clips as there are no technical 6a moves.
The rock isn't excellent at the bottom - i managed to rip a hold off the size of a dinner plate, narrowly missing my belayer. Stayed on it though for the onsight! Tricky top makes it fair 6a i thought. Laughed my ass off watching my mate do a belly flop onto the ledge after completley missing the 'cunning finish' :o)
ended up lunging over the ledge at the top after not spotting the cunning finish...probably made it a solid 6a rather than soft - great route though, nice moves, no crux but several interesting moves to make
nices climb i have done as a 6a. was such a flowing climb although easy for a 6a. mantle at the top was a little tricky but nothing to challenging.
One of my favourite routes on Portland. Flowstone, great holds and the route keeps flowing. As the consensus suggests it is a pleasantly easy 6a, with a little chuckle at the end when you cant get up the mantle!
Lovely climbing with an unexpected mantleshelf to finish. Very steady 6a
Nearly bottled it moving up to the organ pipes where it steepened, but glad I went for it as it's a great climb and probably a soft touch in the grade. |
