A Portland gem. Start at a boulder on the path. Climb the lower wall to below a long crack-line. Move up the crack until a line leads out left onto the wall and small ledge. Climb the slabby wall above the ledge until a tricky mantel move gains the lower-off. USER COMMENTS
Tricky mantel to reach belay.....
Did this for the second time the other day, having done it way back - felt quite technical to me in middle section. Steve's mantle is not too bad, but exposed. I'd say top end 6b+
totally brillient! Excellent technical climbing in the middle. I agree with Nic regarding the mantle.
It was on a cold day - everything felt hard....
Better and more balanced than Return to Roissy, star ratings wrong way round.
Did this again and also R to R. This is definitely the better route, I now think 3 stars. In fact the whole of Portland Heights area is one of the very best sections on Portland with really good long routes. Some quite thought provoking distances between the bolts in this area too!
Portland classic. Top move is well-protected but apparently quite hard for vertically challenged female climbing partners.
Agree with the above; mantel is in a great position, and isn't difficult. Lovely climbing, throughout. Solid 6b+.
super rising traverse and at the end of a long day the mantle felt desperate to my tired arms. i had de ja vu. thought i was on return to roissy all over again. much better than lord stubbock. |
