A short slab is climbed rightwards to where tricky balancy moves gain a shallow groove and easier climbing. Unprotected.
This is ludicrous at HVS. A sketchy 5b move, totally unptotected, about 20ft above an appalling landing. Its a far harder lead than nearby Orang Outang which is given E2!
An enjoyable solo. With a steady head and a bit of thought the precarious move is over quickly. Definately HVS 5b.
The landing is appalling. I can confirm this from practical experience because many years ago (before bouldering mats) I fell off it and very nearly broke my back on the nasty boulder below. Was about 10 minutes before I could speak. Things you do when you're young..
