A good test-piece with a distinct crux. Use a knee-bar at the roof. The extension is the longest and most pumpy route at Dancing Ledge Quarry - Extremely Fat Chance Hotel 7b+. USER COMMENTS
my only route of this difficulty, but with only two hard moves, is it really 7b+?
Is it 7b+? NO, can't be has been soloed by myself (and Pete who soloed it first)...
If it's only 7b, then there a lot of 7b's which should also be downgraded.
Crafty knee-bars, bridging and general jessery makes this route very reasonable. After virtualy every move is a good rest...
Surely, in such an extreme case, the grade must be for the on-sight climber who hasn't been informed of all of the tricks you and Pete have discovered after your numerous ascents?
It may well feel easy for 7b+ if you work it to death but seemed quite tough to me. Have done easier 7cs at Swanage than this.
I am with Stve on this 7b+
has the crack above the roof always had cement in it just above the rusty peg scar ? noticed this whilst trying it. Felt desperate but judging from the comments missing the tricks.
Was completely lost on first attempt and then I realised I had to pull harder. Not sure its at the World class end of sport climbing to haggle about if it desires a '+' or not. Enjoy. |
