Outrageously undergraded. The original wager was about whether new VS leaders could do this route (see Kinder guide). Surely this suggests that Severe is the wrong grade. An overhanging layback up an offwidth crack.
According to the 1948 guide, the wager was about whether anyone could do it, nothing to do with 'VS leaders'. That guide grades it 'Severe if you can do it and much easier if you cannot' and claims that there had only ever been 2 successful ascents :) |
