16m. Pull onto the slab on the left and climb this until the exposed arete on the left can be reached fro a fine finish. USER COMMENTS
Extremely scary if the crack to the left of the slab is not used - anyone know if it's supposed to be in the route? . 5a over the lip at (ignoring crack on L) and then 25 ft of *completely* gearless padding (4b/c?). Final arete is highly entertaining but gear for the final tricky move (Friend 1) is placed blind (and I'm 6ft). Exceptional value at VS!
An interesting but strange route that is somehow less than the sum of it's parts. The ledge detracts and the combination of a boulder problem overhang, easy but terminal slab, and a committing and rounded finish is unusual. Fair at it's guidebook grade of HVS 5a, but not a typical HVS 5a.
Seconded this. Felt more like 5a than 4c. Why has the HVS 5a grade in the book been downgraded?
Really enjoyed this route. Fun start, easy slab (ok no gear but if you can lead HVS as it gets in the guide then it shouldn't be a problem) and a lovely (and harder than I expected) finish up the arete. Middling HVS? |
