14m. Just to the right is a crack in a corner. Climb this by bridging past a holly bush to finish up a pleasant groove. Despite the name, the route is not normally especially sandy.

Pretty hard for S4a in my opinion. I liked the climb but I thought it more like HS 4b. Pretty traditional climbing, and fairly awkward.

A route of contrasts. The starting 12 feet is hard 4a, and if the rest of the route were similar in character, it would probably rate HS. However, once you've done the first 12 feet, the rest of the route is more like an easy Diff. I reckon Severe 4a is a fair grading of this route, but I don't think it's one for anyone looking for their first Severe lead (A friend was trying this as his third onsite lead, and could have made it. However, he struggled with his feet on the crux and looked pretty shaky, so I had to take over).

I'd say the hard climbing was for more than 12 feet, considering the climb is roughly 46 feet long, I's say more like the first 20 feet of climbing. I guess i could settle for S/HS 4b, I seem to remember the protection being good but not always easy to place whilst climbing.

would agree wit woker about being hard for 4a for 20-25 feet. After that looked easy but, for me at least, was covered in snow and ice. This made it nails - beware this route in winter!
