150m. To the east (left) of the cliff is a long gully that runs all the way from the Chew Brook in the bottom, to the crest of the moor. This gives an excellent scramble (really quite easy for a Mod) and also offers the most interesting way to the cliff. It provides a good winter route under the right conditions though care is required as there have been avalanche accidents here.
my first ever peak climb due to the soft weather but fantastic fun everyone should try but litterally save it for a rainy day
An excellent route for all seasons. Good fun when dry, running at full spate or frozen. There is a bit of loose rock about so care is needed.
Did it in bone dry conditions and it was a very pleasant but easy scramble with a few short steeper sections. Combined it with Mark Richards' High Peak Walks book walk 2 - The Saddleworth Edges for a good long day out.
Nice way to get to the crag or as part of a fell run, excellent in any condition!
