12m. Often used as a descent route but also worthwhile as a beginner's route. Start at the toe of the slab and ascend to its tip - not much gear. A couple of short awkward corners complete the route. The right edge is even easier. USER COMMENTS
Makes a perfect first lead
Very hard to protect so could be quite scary as a first lead. But then again, if Black Hawk Right Hand is Diff, this is surely only Mod?!
easy bomber pro all the way in my opinion. And I've been back since with my young lad (OK so I had to place the large hex to protect the wall as he couldn't reach, but then he is only 10)
Put in plenty of pro to stop your second wandering about and taking a swing if they manage to fall off a descent path!
Bit of a cakewalk, and definitely more of a Mod than a Diff, didn't bother with a rope or pro for my 2nd gritstone "lead"
This was my firs tever climb outdoors, its more of a mod as people say. I used it as a descent at stanage today.
Nice cave 2/3 of the way up for a bivi :P
2 * Easy Diff, nice ramble up easy rock, protectable where needed, easy solo tho
I'd ignore the odd dismissive "show-off" comment above and see this route for what it is - a nice comfy easy Diff, ideal for starters. Awkward but plentiful pro in the large coner above half ht. |
