Upper Eskdale's prime venue, Sampson's Stones is without a doubt one of the better bouldering areas in the Lakes. Here a good number of impressive blocks are scattered around a grassy knoll with excellent lines and in a stunning sunny location. The bad news is that it's a good hour walk-in, and some might say nearer 90 minutes! Once recovered from the walk, there is a fine choice of problems at all grades, plus plenty of other possibilities not recorded here. Axions, Dark Matter and Event Horizon are the venue classics.
