< Humphrey Head Bouldering | Birkrigg >
This limestone outcrop is situated by the Duddon Estuary on the west side of the Furness Peninsula, just south of Kirkby in Furness. It offers short leaning walls which provide some fingery problems and a massive overhanging traverse which is the ultimate in stamina training. The setting is quiet and scenic, even Millom looks appealing from here! Dunnerholme is also a Nature Reserve and - once across the golf course - a great place for the kids to play whilst you boulder. If the tide is out, walk back round the headland to the north for a change of scenery - there is zawn in the sea cliff with a few decent bolted and trad routes. Guidebook page 200.
