The next section of cliff is on the other side of the boulder choke which forms the junction of the original 7th and 8th pitches. The boulder choke can be seen in the picture above, but not from the top of the cliff. What can easily be seen, however, is the big Cod Tympani Buttress - this is the large, brown jutting roof. Cod Tympani takes the right underside of the roof, whereas the very useful access/escape route Eight Ball follows the striking horizontal strata from the cliff-top to sea level. Also easily seen from the gearing-up ledges is The Wave, the white, rightwards curling feature just right of the Cod Tympani Buttress. Guidebook page 107.
