To the north of Domusnòvas is a picturesque valley with a long road tunnel in it - the Grotta di San Giovanni. The tunnel is closed to cars and can be easily bypassed by a road to the east, but the tunnel entrance forms a magnificent and spectacular crag with one of the most striking tufas around. The best climbing is on and around the amazing tufa although a few of the routes on the other side are also worth a look, especially if it is hot. This is roadside climbing at its best with few cars to distract you in fact you are far more likely to get distracted by the handy restaurant/bar at the base. Guidebook page 13.
