The summer ridge scrambles give a good introduction to the Lakes winter fells. The very turfy Foule Crag offers reliable buttress climbing and the Gullies between the ridges give good icy scrambles. Blencathra comes into wintry condition quite quickly being isolate and as far north as it is.
