This neglected quarry to the south of Matlock features a fine vertical wall of compact rock. It was first discovered in the early 1980s when the Lee brothers climbed all the major crack lines to give a 6 excellent routes. However this failed to grab the imagination and repeats were few and far between. In the late 90s Pete Cresswell came here and plugged the remaining gaps with a good set of hard sport routes. Once again the quarry had a brief moment in the limelight however the difficulty of the routes seems to have kept repeats down to a minimum and many of the lines are now looking untravelled again. People wishing to climb any of the harder routes would be well-advised to bring a brush and a length of wire to clean out the cracks.
