VALL DE GUADAR (ECHO VALLEY)

The Echo Valley is one of the more impressive mountainous limestone regions in the Costa Blanca. Compared to many of the other crags in the Costa Blanca it is relatively unspolit and quiet which makes it a great venue for those who are after a bit of solitude far from the madding crowds. The appearance of the route information in this book, coupled with the improved access roads, is likely to make it a much more popular destination in future. Please try and keep it as unspolit as possible, keep to the paths, take your litter home and respect the local flora and fauna. Much of the climbing traditional requiring hand-placed gear for virtually all of the routes. Many of the harder routes have been climbed using the Environmental Nut Placement system, or ENP. These devices are fixed into drilled holes in the rock and are designed to accept certain wire nuts which are placed in much the same way as you place a nut in a crack. This means that the routes retain their traditional character whilst allowing blank areas of rock to be relatively well-protected for the lead climber
