Somewhat isolated from the bulk of the crags on Mallorca, the varied sectors that constitute the Puig de Garrafa (formerly called Andratx) will be of most interest to those staying on the western side of the island, although for teams who are in need of fresh routes to go at, a visit is well worth the drive. As with many of the Mallorcan crags the climbing that is currently developed is on a very small portion of the acres of exposed limestone on view in the area. Since the publication of the last Rockfax the area has sprouted another array of climbs in the form of the Sector Corral; an excellent addition that has a good number of very pleasant routes in the mid grades on superbly weathered rock. In contrast the impressive neighbour Sector Sombra only has hard routes on offer but it is certainly well worth a visit from anyone after quality 7a to 7c routes - be warned that most of the grades here are on the stiff side! Higher up the hillside is the more open and easier Sector Solarium. This area is well worth a look by those after some easier climbing and as a bonus has an excellent view.
