TIJUANA

Over the years, one of the most popular spots for visiting climbers has been the beautiful sea cliff of Tijuana, also known as Santanyi after the nearest town. This delightful location has a full holiday atmosphere and it can be easy to get a bit too relaxed here and forget about actually climbing. The routes themselves don't help since most have fierce undercut starts requiring full power the moment you step off the ground. On many the emphasis switches to the fingers as you get higher and most are very draining considering their short length. It is not all power climbing though and there are a few slabbier routes at the left-hand end of the cliff. As with most sea-cliffs, the fixed gear needs to be treated with caution since corrosion is rapid. Many of the routes have been properly staple-bolted, treat those which haven't with extreme caution.
