The island of Tintagel - purportedly the site of Camelot in Arthurian legend - is a formidable sight when viewed from the mainland, but for the climber it keeps its prime cliffs well hidden. In fact the business end of the island - the 'dolomitic wall' of High Cliff - can only be viewed in-full from the sea. The routes included in this guidebook are the most popular on High Cliff, however this is a relative term as even the famous Il Duce sees very few ascents each year. All of the climbs are multi-pitch adventures that for those capable of climbing them will not disappoint. The routes are very serious and even though only a few metres from the normally tourist packed summit of the island the isolation of the climbs should not be underestimated.
