The combination of long stretches of accessible cliffs in a warm Mediterranean climate has established Mallorca as one of the finest deep water soloing destinations in the World. When you add in the superb sport climbing, the cheap flights and plentiful accommodation you have the perfect place for DWS enthusiasts to head for.

In addition to the well-known locations of Porto Cristo (Cova del Diablo), Cala Marcel and Cala Barques (only covered in Deep Water) the main new attraction is the extensive cliffs at Cala Serena which is now the largest developed crag on the island. Slightly north of here is a series of excellent smaller venues like Cala Sa Nau, Porto Colom and Cala Mitjana which have a mixture of mid-grade and hard routes with a few easier routes at Porto Colom for the beginner. Further south development at Santanyi has been dominated by Chris Sharma's mighty ascent of the arch at Es Pontas, however there is plenty in the area for climbers of lesser abilities to at the fine crags of Cala Santanyi and Cala Llombards. The action has not just been confined to the East Coast though and there are new routes to be found on near Port de Soller as well. The solos at Porto Pi have also now been documented.
