I am looking for a decent breathable and waterproof jacket.

Not really going to be walking up Snowdonia, more like Beach-Top cliffside and general wear.

I did recently buy a Montane Men's Phase Lite but found the XL fit more of a large so it got returned.

In a perfect world I don't want to pay more than £200 but open to advice and suggestions.

It's your money but for beach top/general wear I'd go to Decathalon for sure. A jacket with a £200 price tag will have a degree of techinical design which by your own post you'll never use. Decathalons best jecket is £140 and that is overkill.

Decathalon is great but Flexothane might be even better, properly waterproof just don't try running in it

I wear flexothane trousers & jacket if I have to do walling in the wet.  Hard wearing.  Comfortable, keeps me dry with zero condensation.
