Just opened up my Terra Nova Bothy 2 emergency shelter, that stays at the bottom of my rucksack, to find the PU coating has started to go sticky. Not delaminating yet but should I bin it, considering this is for emergency use?

Roll it in glitter, that will stop the stickiness and make it even more emergency visible

Talcum powder?

Thanks. I’d rather avoid binning it. I might have  a go at washing the old PU coating off and reproofing it. Any tips?

In reply to Blue Yonder:

Do try the talcum powder first, it might work.

I’ll try it, thanks.

Glitter first then the talc.

While the glitter is a wonderful idea you might find this thread useful:

That’s quite a process. Not sure if I could be bothered for such a simple item as my TN Bothy, though I can see it’s worth it for an expensive tent. I’ll try the talc, though I reckon I’ll end up washing it and then giving it a reproof.
