Anyone had a Mucoid Cyst removed from a toe?

Had a cyst on my big toe joint for about 8 months now...

I've been mostly grinning and bearing it, aside from ignoring NHS advice and draining it occasionally, and sometimes accidentally smashing the top off, but it keeps coming back and it's getting to the point where certain shoes make it uncomfortable and climbing shoes are pretty painful and make it near impossible to climb for any length of time.

Has anyone had one removed - NHS seems to suggest it's elective, but also seems to suggest you'll be on crutches afterwards?

I had one on my 4th toe for a year or so, it got huge and burst, came back and got huge again before bursting again. It then vanished, so far touch wood. It was around for a couple of years in total.

I was thinking surgery wasn't certain to shift them.

Yeah, depends on root cause I think. Apparently they can just pop up the other side...

Mine went for a bit, hence leaving it - but sod's law, you build a woody in your garden and then can't get your climbing shoes on....
