I'm considering a day walking in Wharfedale this week, somewhere between Buckden and Ilkley, following part of the Dales Way.
Will this be possible, or will the riverside paths be flooded? Any local advice appreciated.
Thanks.
The Wharfe is a spate river so the level rises and falls quickly. Current depth at Kettlewell shows it's higher than normal but much lower than Fri-Sat https://riverlevels.uk/river-wharfe-kettlewell-with-starbotton-kettlewell
The Dales Way is always boggy between Buckden and Kettlewell but rises out of the valley from Kettlewell to Grassington and stays drier. Enjoy!
Edit: And south of Grassington it's a well-constructed smooth path and drains well
Thanks !
Ilkley is under a yellow rain warning today. The roads might be tricky depending on which way you're heading into Wharfedale?
Also, Blubberhouses (A59 from Harrogate) is closed for resurfacing for the next few weeks

Nothing to do with floods but I've always been intrigued by the name. Conjures up images of an inland whaling station.
