Looking for recommendations and tips for an upcoming month in Colorado, probably flying to Denver and hiring a vehicle- I have two weeks alone and then two weeks with a buddy. Where might be good for meeting other skiers for touring and hut trips? Where are good ski mountaineering areas and areas which have huts to ski from? Any pro ski dirtbag tips / things to look out for most welcome!
For partners check out Powder Project website or app. They have a partners forum section. Huts are frequently booked up ages in advance but you might get lucky
We spent a few weeks out there, mainly day touring. It’s ace! There’s so much to go at. I’d really recommend heading over towards Silverton and Telluride. The roads are up to 10,000 feet, so it’s great access and there’s a massive range of stuff to do. Our highlights were probably skiing Mount Sneffels and the San Joaquin couloir. This book is priceless: https://www.amazon.com/Climbing-Skiing-Colorados-Mountains-Backcountry/dp/0...
