Hi

Does anyone do forearm extensor exercises as part of training?

youtube.com/watch?v=qRf0HBi4yoA&

I do them without the bands.

Are bands such as the ones in the video and what Lattice offer worth the money?

I'd go for PowerFingers rather than the Lattice ones. You might as well use elastic bands if you wanted the Lattice ones

I use the PowerFingers to help prevent elbow problems and my arms seems to appreciate it!

Apparently according to a video by MasterClass and AO, elastic bands is what they used before such devices were invented.

I suppose this is why I wouldn't go with the Lattice ones personally. They don't seem like much of an improvement on elastic bands

The Blacks ones look similar to the PowerFingers. No idea how long they will last but they are cheap so maybe worth a try to see if you get on with them?

My physio suggested I started doing these exercises for a wrist issue I have. Whilst they didn't explicitly say not to bother with the PowerFinger type, they did suggest that using a simple band was all I needed.

I found a few strong elastic bands, and they worked fine when doubled up.

Whilst I haven't used the PowerFinger type, I struggle to see what benefit they provide.

A simple bands seems to load all the fingers and they don't seem to slip.

I bumped into Josh from Lattice today.

I bought one from Depot Sheffield today.

Just wrap a theraband around your hand.

ps. put the cash towards new shoes without holes instead!

Aliens are cheap and portable.

How do you know I have a hole in one of my shoes?

Solution Comps are great for me.

So are therabands and I guess you’d have one or some anyway.

Re. Holes. Your photo you put up.

You’d be surprised how much people scrutinise whatever is out up on the internet. And Jez knows that, because he’s always afraid we should catch him not doing up his screw gates

I have got myself a tennis elbow and it has been holding be down for more than a month now. Do you think exercising with PowerFingers will help?

No idea. I'd go and see a physio so you can get a proper diagnosis

For really excellent advice, try 'The self-rehabbed climber' by Andy McVittie.  It's a great book written by a specialist climber physiotherapist.  Simple exercises that work.

Isometic hangs on a bar at 90 degree arm angle, facing along the length of the bar with the hands in a neutral grip (like when you clap your hands). 4-6 20-30s reps after a little warming up. Progressively add weight each session until the pain is gone.

I personally found forearm extensor training to be a waste of time for rehabbing elbows. The hangs work very effectively.

I'm looking for new books to read. 👍

I used my Alien for the first time this morning during breakfast at Hygge....

.... I did one set of 5 reps on each hand and I am still  feeling the results in the train home.

I use deadhangs as part of my warm up. 😀

Bandless as part of warm up - prevention better cure - and with alien as strength training.💪👍

In reply to Mountain Spirit:

For max strength I did 10 second holds with 2 min rest between each set - a set is 10 sec hold - and I did that 5 times.

IMHO, 4 sets of 5 reps is strength endurance.
