Can anyone recommend a guide in the Picos area? Mainly to introduce myself and my partner to the climbing in the gorge at Vegacervera, and perhaps another long route or two in the area.

I have the Cordillera Cantabrica book, and it's definitely an option to launch out on our own with info from that plus some online topos, but we're thinking it may be more comforting to hire a local guide for a day or two first, to locate climbs with confidence, and so we have a better idea what to expect in terms of the climbing, gear (or lack of), descents, etc.

We're pretty experienced, so not looking for packages aimed at beginners - more of a bespoke day or two, during which we'd (or at least I'd) like to do some of the leading.

Thanks

We had the same guidebook when we visited, but no online topos to provide backup. There might have been a couple of goes locating the correct parking (vague twenty odd year memory…) but we managed fine enough. I’d suggest just heading there without hiring a guide.
