I really want to head to south America (Maybe Peru or Patagonia or so) for some climbing and/or alpinism. Unfortunately I can’t seem to find anyone who has the time to tag along, so I’m thinking of heading there and just seeing if I can meet up with other climbers on the spot. Are there any known hot spots where this approach is likely to work out? Or do people generally arrive in groups with fixed objectives in mind? Would really appreciate any advice! Cheers
Huaraz in Peru, in particular Andea Kingdom is a good place to meet people. There's a board you can out your name down.
Patagonia wise there are two places, El Chalten which there is the climbers hostel (The Hem) and Bariloche where just go to the Frey and hang out at the refugio. You'll meet someone there to climb with.
