Does anyone have any recommendations for good apps or websites for French mapping and hiking paths/routes (GRs & PRs etc). Happy with English or French language. Preferably free but don't mind paying. Specifically in area of Provence and Parc du Verdon, but national coverage is also welcome. It's a while since I've been in that area, or hiking in France at all, so just catching up with what's good. For a guide*book*, Cicerone have a "Walking in Provence - East" which I'm thinking of getting. TIA
I've always been fine with my usuals for the routes around Fontainebleau.
Alpinequest free version is ok. Osmand is very good (it's quietly GPL so get the + version for free from fdroid or GitHub). Magic earth is about the best for driving.
Thanks for all the suggestions. After a bit of Google and researching based on the suggestions above, I plumped for Iphigénie https://en.iphigen.ie/, and can report after some testing in real life on walks in Provence/Verdon Nat Park area, it's does exactly what I want. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it ticks the boxes for me at the moment.
I use Visorando for Fontainebleau; not used it further afield.
In the free version one can download the route for use offline, and combined with phone's GPS and the written route description, it's almost impossible to get lost.
As for route selection, the search function is easy to use.
One can also upload a route: I've not tried yet myself.
